Good Morning Members,
I was at the latest launching of Rainbow sailing dinghies made by youth at the Making Waves Wright of Passage program where youth are building Rainbows two days a week until they are complete. A friend of mine, Shane Greaves, is the Program Coordinator and the program has been so successful that he has run out of time. They have expanded interstate and looks like more sites will come on line in other areas. Plus he has supervised the building of 3 more Rainbows at Concord Ryde Sailing Club training up club members and their children on boat building with many of the youth gaining apprenticeships in the marine industry.
Please click onto the PDF at the bottom of this page for more information and how to join, Shane is looking for a volunteer to get involved at Woolwich Dock to allow him to work on setting up the new sites and volunteers. He asked me and I would love to do it, but I have already overcommitted myself at RANSA and elsewhere. If you have time, it is very rewarding taking youth with no hand skills and low self esteem to young people with pride and skills to enter the workforce. There is further info @ www.makingwaves.au/wright-of-passage or click on the QR Code in the attached info sheet.
I am happy to discuss the program with anyone interested or Shane’s contact details are on the info sheet.

Yours in Sailing
