WELCOME TO THE NEW MEMBERSHIP YEAR AT RANSA

With the challenges over the past few months, along with the fact that the Clubhouse has not been fully open, the board will be offering reduced membership fees for the 20-21 membership year. Shortly you will be receiving your renewal notice as our membership year is July 1. However, fees are being deferred till 1st October for a pro rata renewal membership of nine (9) months based on the 2019 membership fee.

COVID Spacing At RANSA

With the return to racing on Wednesday's and Saturday's this means more people coming through RANSA. To comply with NSW Health COVID-19 guidelines there is new signage, hand sanitiser and maximum numbers allowed in certain areas. Read on for the details.

Winter Wednesday Sailing Instructions & COVID-19

The sailing instructions (SI) have now been published for the RANSA Wednesday Winter Series starting June 10th. A notable difference is skippers MUST provide a crew list for contact tracing. Both SI's & crew list templates are available here.

Online Entry Available Winter Wednesday & Saturday starting June 10th

Great news the RANSA Winter Wednesday Series and the Combined Clubs Winter Saturday Series will now start on 10 and 13 June respectively. While there are special COVID-19 requirements NoR & online entry are available on the web site. Restrictions will be max crew 10 and crew lists for contact tracing must be submitted prior to racing.

Update to permitted COVID boating activities

With the easing of NSW restrictions Australian Sailing has provided an update on permitted on water activities, that now allows for recreational boating, with social distancing. One step closer to resuming racing. See the AS website for details .

Whitbread 73-74 Around The World Race & RANSA

If you look at the pictures in the Rushcutter Room you would have seen photos of the 1973-74 Whitbread around the world race with RANSA as a stop over point. Check out the story of the first edition of what we now know as The Ocean Race in this restored footage of the first race.

RANSA Pirates Day - Postponed due to COVID-19

Unfortunately due to the spread of COVID-19 and as this is a charity event for kids we have taken the decision to postpone the event most likely until September. A new date will be announced as soon as practical.

RANSA Regatta 2020 highlights

Once again we had a successful RANSA Regatta with 72 boats entered across multiple division on a perfect sailing day with light to moderate breeze. Special thanks all the volunteers that made it possible. Here are a couple of photos from the day.

SailPASS Comes To RANSA

SailPASS is an Australian Sailing initiative to help ensure that those sailing as casual crew are on record, and have the benefit of AS personal accident insurance. RANSA along with most of the Sydney clubs are supporting this initiative. From the new twilight season all would-be crew who are not members of RANSA or another AS affiliated Club and who do not therefore have AS cover will be asked to register for a SailPASS, and skippers are encouraged to ask them to do so via this website.

January Hawkesbury Cruise

Dave Giddings & "Sylvara" are heading to the Hawkesbury on Thursday 2nd-15th January & are inviting any interested RANSA cruisers to join them for an "in company" sail and meet up. There is also a short race on Pittwater 4th January & dinner at RPAYC planned.

On Thursday night the Board of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia graciously hosted the RANSA Board for a working dinner to discuss areas of mutual concern and to improve cooperation in the management of sailing in general and Rushcutters Bay in particular.

Sail Past & Blessing Of The Fleet Photos

The Royal Australian Navy have new yacht to be named ‘NAVY ONE’, which they will be sailing in the RANSA Twilight series and with an all Navy crew in Sydney to Hobart Race in December. Rear Admiral Mead and a senior Navy Chaplain blessed the new boat & the RANSA fleet before the first Twilight.

Grants Committee Volunteers Needed

Unfortunately RANSA was not successful in obtaining the NSW Government community grant for the replacement committee boat. The experience gained has made us even more determined to fight for grants, so volunteer to be on a Grants Committee to win some funding.
